The Dalton Camp Award is a $10,000 prize for the best essay on the link between media and democracy, presented annually by FRIENDS of Canadian Broadcasting. In 2020, FRIENDS is pleased to announce a second prize of $2,500 to the best essay submitted by a student writer.

Deadline for submission: December 24, 2021 at 8pm EST.

Please read our Rules and Regulations before you submit your essay.

Essays must be submitted in a Word doc to [email protected] (no PDFs or any other formats). The word limit must not exceed 2,000 words in length, including any editorial content in citations.

Your submission must include a cover page with the following information:

  • Essay title
  • Author's full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Postal address
  • 50-word bio of the author,
  • The word count of the essay (maximum 2,000 words including any editorial content in citations)
  • Confirmation that the entry complies with the Rules of The Dalton Camp Award.
  • If submitting to the Student Prize, name of the recognized post-secondary institution the applicant is enrolled in as a student at the time of entry or at any time during the same calendar year

Do not include your name or any information identifying the author on the essay pages besides the cover page. Eligible essays are judged on an anonymous basis.
